Objective of the Game of Roulette Roulette is a game of chance which originated in France during the 17th century. Today, Roulette can be played in a real land casino or even from the comfort of your personal computer should you opt to play at an online casino. Every player involved in the game of Roulette makes an attempt to guess where the Roulette ball will land once the wheel stops spinning. How to Play Roulette Before venturing out to play the game of Roulette, the player must scrutinize the tables for the minimum and maximum stakes involved in the game. After the player has picked a table with betting limits that are suited to his budget, the player can then opt for a European Roulette table over an American Roulette table or vice versa depending on the player's preferences. The French Roulette wheel has 36 numbers and a 0 while an American Roulette wheel will have 0 and a 00 in addition to the 36 numbers on the wheel. The house has a better edge over the players in the case of an American table, and hence many players tend to pick the European Roulette table. In Roulette, the wheel has 38 slots colored in a pattern similar to the layout on the Roulette table. The Roulette table layout will consist of boxes with the numbers from 1 to 36 enclosed in red or black ovals or rectangular shapes which will be arranged in three columns and twelve rows. The numbers 0 and 00 are placed on top and are highlighted in green. Players place their bets on these numbers according to their preference. To play Roulette the players must first exchange their money for the chips or coins of a color different to that of his opponents. The color variations help the dealer in identifying the owner of the chips during any point of the game. The chips can then be placed on the layout on the table until the ball bounces to the wining number. When the dealer places a marker on the winning number, the person who has betted on the same can claim his winnings. The game begins when the players make their bets by placing coins or chips on the table. The dealer then spins the plastic ball in a direction opposite to that of the wheel. When the ball bounces and settles on a number, it is declared as the winning number by the dealer. Those players who were lucky enough to make a bet on that number will take in the winnings depending on the odds. Online Roulette To play online Roulette the player can drag the chips to any place in the layout. The contestant should be on the look out for a fast moving table to improve his chances of winning. Do remember that many casino tables are willing to accept only a few currencies, so check before you play.
