PayPal, the speedy online payment processing service, is once again, accepting online gambling transactions in Europe. The recent ban on accepting these transactions has not yet been lifted in the United States since there is the risk of bank account seizures as a result of the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act).
Perhaps in the near future, this easy and fairly seamless PayPal online payment processing service will, once again, be available to gamblers and online gambling sites in many places in the world, and most notably, in the United States. In order for PayPal to re-enter the online gambling market in the US, the laws against online gambling transactions will have to be changed, which may well happen in the relatively near future as the time gets closer when Barney Frank's online gambling bill will be debated and voted on.Not only PayPal has been affected by the UIGEA ban. Google, a leading search engine, has turned down gambling advertisements on their sites since they were taken to court and fined by the United States Department of Justice for allowing them in the past. However, Google, once again, accepts online gaming ads for their United Kingdom users, and would like to return to the US should the laws banning online gambling be lifted. In the UK, online gambling sites have been reintroducing PayPal as one of their online payment processing methods. PayPal offers users secure online transactions, and privacy, since there is no need to give PayPal any other bank or credit card details. |
