Online gamblers have few concerns other than the
safety and security of the sites at which they choose to play. This was shown yet again when an European
online casino operator recently conducted a survey about the concerns of online
gamblers.
With the scandals that have occurred in online poker
rooms recently, from cheating scandals to the United States government seizing
the accounts of online gamblers, on the whole, players are more concerned than
before about the safety and security of the money they deposit with online
casinos.
The results of the survey show that only have of those
who gamble online in the United States were aware of the recent online gambling
account seizures of players from online poker rooms in the US, with only a
third of UK respondents being aware of the issue, which has not affected them
directly.Sixty percent of those players
who took part in the survey are extremely concerned when it comes to the safety
of the funds they have lodged with online casinos and other online gambling
sites.
The anti-gambling groups, and those in the US
government who are anti-gambling, have made a point of telling online gamblers
that their money is not safe when lodged with online gambling sites. It now seems, at least from those in
government, that this has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The account seizures affected money that had
been quite safe until the US Department of Justice stepped in and seized the
accounts.
One wonders if this was done in order to gain support
for a time, hopefully in the not too distant future, when online casino sites
will be regulated and legalized.
